R.E.M.

R.E.M. always proclaimed to stay together as a band until Dec 31, 1999. They regarded themselves as a collective, where nobody ever should be replaced. In 1997 Bill Berry left R.E.M. That was two years too early. It was interesting to see how the band would continue. Meanwhile they keep existing in the 21st century.
R.E.M.'s history is too long to be summarized here real deeply. You will find plenty of homepages in the net. Start up with Official R.E.M. Homepage!
